Sh. M. K Sinha- IPS, Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone, Jammu visited Marwah area of District Kishtwar to review the security situation and to take stock of the search operations being conducted in the area. It is pertinent to mention that yesterday a brief encounter took place between Police and militants in Appan  near Nowapachi in which two police personnel had got injured. During the interaction with Police and Army officers, there was a threadbare discussion on the means to improve the operational effectiveness.  
The encounter between militants and police in the hilly district came after nearly seven years. The last counter-insurgency operation was carried there on December 23, 2012.
Earlier in May, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh had also ruled out the presence of militants in Kishtwar belt.

          There after IGP Jammu also visited Inshan in Warwan,where the present security situation, specially in the light of opening up of Margan Top route, was discussed and analyzed. Further, instructions were given to increase Long Range Patrols and cordon and search operations in the areas. Deputy Inspector General of Police DKR Range Sh. B .S Tuti-IPS and Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar accompanied the IGP Jammu Zone during the visit. 
     Moreover, while returning a general security and Law and order review meeting was conducted in the District Police Headquarters which was attended by senior Police officers such as  Deputy Inspector General of Police DKR Range Sh. B .S Tuti-IPS,Sh. Shakti K. Pathak, Addl. SP Kishtwar Sh. Nasir Ahmed, Dy. SP Hqrs. Sh. Sunny Gupta and Dy. SP DAR DPL Sh. Iftikhar Ahmed .
